My name is Doug Burney, and I’m a Sophomore at Bucknell University, majoring in Economics and Mathematics. I grew up in Morristown, New Jersey, a town that exemplifies the ways that social and economic geography can vary wildly within the same physical context.
At Bucknell I am a member of the Men’s Crew team, and of the Delta Zeta chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha. As an Econ/Math major, I am very interested in the ways that space and econo-social influences can be tangibly understood and mapped out.
I have also stepped out of my normal course requirements to take Women’s Studies and social justice courses, and have an interest in the way that the powers-that-be balance economic and political control with their moral responsibilities. I hope this course will continue to develop this interest.
